The much-awaited all-new Santro has been launched with prices starting from Rs 3.89 lakh for the base D-Lite trim and going up to Rs 5.64 lakh for the Sportz CNG variant.
The new design language of the 2018 Hyundai Santro exudes a sporty image. The tall boy design ensures better head and shoulder room with a spacious and airy cabin feel. The improved ergonomics ensures easy ingress and egress, high seating position and good all-round visibility.
The exterior styling is defined by Hyundai’s signature cascade grille with chrome-surround and uniquely-positioned fog lamps. The bold bonnet character lines with the Hyundai logo, swept-back headlamps and micro antenna creates a fresh appeal. The stylish tail lamps and sporty dual-tone rear bumper with reflectors exude a modern sporty feel.
The dual-tone beige-and-black interiors with champagne gold inserts projects a premium cabin experience. The elephant-inspired centre fascia fuses Indian heritage and modernity. Ergonomically-placed audio, power window switches and AC controls offer easy access with minimal driver distraction. The front design AC vents are inspired by propeller design. The cabin also features multiple storage spaces and a useful boot of 235 litres making the new Hyundai Santro suitable for daily commute and weekend trips.
There is a choice of two engine options. The 1.1-litre petrol motor is available mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT. The engine churns out 69 PS of maximum power at 5,500 rpm and 99 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. The 1.1-litre CNG produces 59 PS at 5,500 rpm and 84 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. ARAI-ratified fuel efficiency figures are stacked at 20.3 kmpl for the petrol powertrain and 30.48 km/kg for the CNG model.
The 2018 Hyundai Santro comes with a 17.64 cm touchscreen audio-video system supported with rear parking camera display. The multi-media system is equipped with Smartphone connectivity – Android Auto, Apple Car Play and Mirror Link and Voice Recognition Function along with iblue Smartphone App Support.
The front suspension is mounted with McPhearson strut and urethane bump stopper for stability on rough roads and reducing body roll, improving cornering performance. The rear suspension uses coupled torsion beam axle with vertically placed shock absorbers that minimise shock rebound providing a comfortable and stable ride. The aerodynamics combined with strong body structure offers better NVH isolation ensuring a quiet and pleasant driving experience.
The 2018 Hyundai Santro will be available in seven exterior colours including the new Imperial Beige and Diana Green. The two interior colour options are Premium Beige with Champagne Gold inserts and Sporty All-Black interiors with Diana Green colour inserts based on the exteriors.
