After its success in the MPV and premium SUV segment in India, Japanese automaker Toyota is now eyeing the compact SUV segment with the much talked about Rush.
Toyota Rush has already tasted success in Malaysia, Indonesia and other Asian markets where it is sold as Daihatsu Rush. Now it is going to take heads on with the highly competitive mini SUV segment with cars like Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Ford Ecosport.
The Rush got a major face-lift a few months back and looks nothing like its predecessor. With that muscular stance, it now looks a lot like a mini Fortuner. It now seats 7, though still has a true ladder frame for that SUV touch. It went on sale in Indonesia last month and we can’t help but pray that Toyota India launches it in India. The Rush has been in the news in India for almost half a decade. It was supposed to come to India almost two years back, but didn’t. 2018, however, seems the right time for the Rush.

The all-new Lamborghini Urus has been launched in India at Rs 3 crore, ex-showroom. Lamborghini will be making 1,000 units of the Urus SUV globally and 25 units out of that have been allotted to India. It is worth pointing out that Lamborghini has launched the Urus in India ahead of China, indicating the importance of the country in the company’s global plans.
Doing duty in the Lamborghini Urus is a specially-developed 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 650 PS at 6,000 rpm and generates 850 Nm of torque at 2,250 rpm. All of that power is sent to the four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Lamborghini claims that the Urus can reach 100 kmph in 3.6 seconds and capable of reaching a top speed of 305 kmph.
The Lamborghini Urus is much lighter than most of its rivals at 2200 kg, mainly because of the extensive usage of carbon fiber reinforced polymer, although it is based on the same platform as the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne, and Volkswagen Touareg. Lamborghini has developed the world’s largest set of carbon ceramic brakes fitted to a production car, with 440mm rotors in the front and 370mm rotors in the rear. The all-wheel drive system in the Urus, which under normal driving sends 40 percent of the engine’s torque to the front wheels and 60 percent to the rear wheels. The system also uses torque vectoring to send as much as 70 percent torque to the front or 87 percent torque to the rear when necessary.
The car also features rear-wheel steering and an air suspension system that can provide a maximum of 250 mm of ground clearance for use in offroading. The car will be available with an optional offroad package, which includes front and rear bumpers that are better suited to offroading. The Urus, like all of Lamborghini’s current offerings, will feature a selection of driving modes, which adapt the suspension to improve the car’s performance in various situations. The Lamborghini Urus will feature Strada (street), Corsa (track), Terra (dirt), Sabbia (sand), and Neve (snow) driving modes, with the latter three possibly only available on the offroad-package equipped version of the Urus.
