Over the past few months, there were multiple occasions when one name had repeatedly surfaced during the adda sessions with friends and acquaintances. So when we received an invitation from Banabithi Resort for an overnight stay to experience the property, we were naturally excited. Being located in Ghatakpukur, which is practically at a stone throw distance from Kolkata, we didn’t have to think twice before packing our bags and off we went to explore yet another weekend getaway.

Route Description
With paltry 26.8 kilometres to cover, we reached Banabithi Resort in less than an hour. After reaching Parama Island near Science City, in front of Pragati Maidan Thana around 10 AM and setting the trip meter to 0.0 km, we set off on our journey along the Basanti Highway - which later joins the State Highway 3A.

We drove on the scenic Basanti Highway dotted with greenery on both the sides, crossing the Bantala Leather Complex on the right and continuing straight through Bojerhat Notun Bazaar and Paglar Haat. At 24.9 kilometres on the odometer, we turned right from Ghatakpukur Chowmatha to enter Baruipur-Champahati-Ghatakpurkur Road. A short drive from here stretching for a couple of kilometres brought us to our weekend destination – Banabithi Resort.

Banabithi Resort 
Banabithi Resort is an abode of tranquility and greenary. For many years, it has remained a popular destination for picnickers, often being in high demand during the peak season. However, it is only as recent as last year that the management has converted the property into a resort equipped with a residential facility, multi-cuisine restaurant, swimming pool, games room and a sprawling, well-manicured lawn.

The rooms at Banabithi Resort are clean and the extensive use of natural fabrics on the exterior and interior lends an earthy touch. The beds are comfortable, the washroom is clean and equipped with a geyser. The air conditioning is effective and cools quickly even during peak summer months.

The swimming pool is one of the major attractions for the guests staying at Banabithi Resort. The pool is very well maintained and there is a pool attendant available to assist the guests. Do not forget to carry your swimming gear. It is an absolute must for enjoying a dip in the pool at Banabithi Resort.

There is a games room which offers an opportunity to test your skills over a game of carom. And for those who wish to read a book, enjoy a cuppa or simply spend time in solitude, there are several quiet and cosy corners inside the premises.

The surprise package of our stay was the delicious food on offer. We tried the authentic Bengali cuisine for lunch and the delicious finger food in the evening – both of which left us craving for more. The staffs at Banabithi Resort are friendly, courteous and helpful. Overall, our stay was both comfortable and enjoyable, thanks to the splendid hospitality by Banabithi Resort.
